For Long-Term Crew

Experienced Processing Roles at the Plant

For hands who already know a line — what experienced processing work looks like at Alaskan Fish Factory across halibut, sockeye, and cod.

If you already know your way around a processing line, there’s work here that can go beyond entry-level seasonal processing.

What experienced processors do

Across halibut, sockeye, and cod, the work runs from receiving through to a packed box:

  • Grading and sorting to spec
  • Dressing and cleaning
  • Knife work — trimming, cutting, filleting or portioning
  • Icing and packing
  • Keeping an eye on product quality as it moves
  • Setting up workstations and keeping them running right

Setting the pace

Experienced hands do more than their own station — they set the tempo. When a seasonal crew comes on for a run, the people who already know the line keep everyone moving and help bring the newer hands up to speed. That’s a big part of the value.

What we look for

Speed matters — but never at the cost of safety, yield, cleanliness, or quality. The best processors are fast and careful, handle fish with respect, and can be trusted to do it right without someone standing over them.

Where it can go

Experienced processors may be considered for multi-season, lead, or longer-term roles when openings and operating needs align. If you’ve got the experience, tell us what you’ve run and what you’re looking for.
