For Buyers
Wholesale Cook Inlet Sockeye & Homer Halibut, Sourced on the Homer Spit
How wholesale buyers source wild Cook Inlet sockeye and Pacific halibut — landed and processed in Homer, Alaska, then moved to market through the 7 Seas network.
For a wholesale buyer, it’s hard to get closer to the source than this: wild Cook Inlet sockeye and Pacific halibut, landed and processed right on the Homer Spit.
Alaskan Fish Factory receives fishing vessels and tenders at 800 Fish Dock Rd in Homer. Once the fish is on our dock, the crew moves it through grading, processing, chilling, and packing to your program’s spec — then it heads to market through the 7 Seas network.
Wholesale sales, pricing, and logistics run through our parent company, 7 Seas. Send a wholesale inquiry and a 7 Seas rep will follow up on availability, specs, volume, and delivery.
What we process in Homer
Two wild Alaska programs:
- Cook Inlet sockeye — our Cook Inlet reds, landed in a concentrated summer run. Prized for rich color, firm texture, and eating quality; available fresh or frozen, with sizes and volumes shifting through the run. → When sockeye & halibut land
- Homer halibut — Pacific halibut landed through Homer across a much longer season, graded and cut to spec. Common grades run 10–20 through 100 lb+. → Homer halibut grades explained
Fresh, frozen & how it travels
We move a lot of fish across a season — most of it shipped fresh, with the capacity to freeze sockeye at the plant for frozen programs. Most product moves out by coordinated refrigerated truck, with air freight an option for time-sensitive orders. → How wholesale fish moves from Homer to Seattle & Vancouver
Why being on the Spit matters
Landing right at the plant means no truck haul between a separate dock and the line. That proximity only helps when the operation’s ready for it — and once the fish is on our dock, careful handling through receiving, processing, and packing helps protect receiving condition, appearance and texture, usable yield, and remaining shelf life. Nobody removes the natural variation in a wild fish; our job is to avoid adding avoidable loss after it lands.
What to include in a wholesale inquiry
- Species (sockeye, halibut, or both)
- Preferred size or grade
- Whole, dressed, or fillet
- Fresh or frozen
- Estimated volume
- Delivery destination and required dates
- Whether it’s one-time, weekly, or seasonal
A smaller foodservice order works differently than a distributor program or a full truckload, and availability and pricing shift through the season.
